Water lines over Buss Duct

I know that 110.26 addresses the is of foreign equipment in the working space in a dedicated electrical area, but, what if water lines are run over top of buss duct in a lab area? Are they still required to install a drip pan where the lines cross over the duct? What are the requirements for working space about buss duct? I can not find anything to clarify these questions. Thanks in advance.

A bus duct does not require working clearance. If it is a feeder bus, then any bus plug that is installed will need working clearance. There is no rule that prohibits running pipe over a bus duct, nor any rule that requires a drip pan. Now, whether it is a good design is another matter.

110.26 E(1)(b) addresses the drip protection in dedicated equipment spaces but I can not find anything to address buss duct, however, I think it would be a great topic for code change to address this. Someone ran two 1- 1/4" water lines within 8 inches of the buss in our building and one small leak would be catastrophic.

How many leaky water pipes are there in your building? How is a small leak in a water pipe any more a potential catastrophe than a roof leak?

Alot, if you would really like to know... It is a very old building and every rain fall brings new leaks but that is not addressed in the code book either..... So moving on, NAMAHDDUB OUT!!!:happyno::happyno::happyno:
