Can we have a water or A drain system over an electric room. In another word, can we use a pan under the drain or water line? Thank you for your input

Review section 110.26(F)(1) of the NEC to determine compliance. More details of the exact installation will be needed to give a positive yes or no answer.

I do not neccessarily agre with the whole "pan under " deal...but I have seen it done (and was verbally objective), but was shot down because of 110.26....imagine an expansion joint running diagonally across a switch gear room(480V) protected by a drip pan ...the pan was over most, but not all of the gear - which had 4160 feeding the xmer(in that same room). Virtually EVERY panel on this job had a drip pan over it - pretty sh*tty, but code compliant.

If the pan and water line are not at least 6' above the top of the equipment, it is a violation.

thank you all for the reply, after reading sec. 110.26(F) it seems a violation to do that. How about running an air ducts over the telephone board, would that be a violation since it's a low voltage system?

Is your telephone board enclosure waterproof? Just because an installation is code compliant does not mean it won't be a POS. :p

Article 800 does not reference 110.26, and therefore it is not a requirement, as per 90.3.
