Customer wants recessed lights in the ceiling of his deck, which is a floor system of the second floor deck. What kind of recessed lights can I use that would be waterproof?
Perhaps some kind of low voltage fixtures?
Thank you.

The only way I know to do this is for the builder to build the deck with a slope and install metal flashing under the boards above. I don't know of any wp recessed cans. All the cans I have used are rated for damp location not wet.

General recommendations are the waterproof (or drainage) membrane or material (metal sheet or similar) is installed between the joist below the floor decking but above finished ceiling. If done that way your typical exterior rated (water proof) fixture could be installed as the back (underside) of the fixture is installed similar to being under the roof structure eves. (As long as membrane is installed correctly.)

There are recessed downlights that are wet listed from all directions.

You can take a look at the Nikon and Mondova fixtures from Ligman Lighting.

Or FlexaLighting has several options that are likely more applicable to a residential project.

I use those guys when I'm working on projects with Mapes canopies, or other similar exterior canopies with downlights but the recessed portion of the fixture is still exposed to the elements from above.

So would assume they have some sort of cable gland for the wiring to pass through that is water tight? And also require UF cable or LFNC.
