406.9(B) Wet Locations.
(1) 15- and 20-Ampere Receptacles in a Wet Location. 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles installed in
a wet location shall have an enclosure that is weatherproof whether or not the attachment plug cap is inserted. For other
than one- or two-family dwellings, an outlet box hood installed for this purpose shall be listed, and where installed on
an enclosure supported from grade as described in 314.23(B) or as described in 314.23(F) shall be identified as “extra-duty.”
All 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt nonlocking-type receptacles shall be listed weather-resistant type.
2011 NEC:
Yes it's required. Right there in post #3.SO if the outdoor receptacles is installed at a one family dwelling the WR receptacle is not needed ?
Yes!If i use a in use cover for outside receptcial must i use a weather resistant receptcial ? 2011 code.
That section is talking about both the cover AND receptacle. Be careful not to confuse between the two.SO if the outdoor receptacles is installed at a one family dwelling the WR receptacle is not needed ?
And the WR gfci’s are supposed to have a potted circuit board also.Regardless of code cycle, WR receptacles last longer, standard receptacles the 6/32 screw rust and break.
