Forgive me if this has been covered, but I couldn't find the archives. I'm building a barn and want a weather vane on my cupola. What is code on grounding it? Several people have said we don't get enough lightning here. I don't buy that. My guess is to treat it as a lightning rod, right? If so what is code on that? I'd like to get it right as I'm installing the cupola rather than after. Thanks Joel

There is no NEC requirement to ground this weather vane, unless there is electric power on it.

You can if you want, I imagine set it up as a lightning rod and I am sure the link Bennie provided would cover all the implications of that.
