I have been a member of Improvenet, www.improvenet.com for several years. I have yet to have any sucess with their leads program. I feel that the lead fees are high and the win fee can be 7.5% of the job.
I have seen many more promising leads from www.contractor.com Membership starts at $295/yr, but the lead fees are about 5-10$ per lead. I believe that some of the membership fee is credited toward the lead fees.
Almost all of my work is from referrals, but I have been looking at other options since I have moved away from most of my established customers. Good luck in your venture, do work you can be proud of, and don't compete strictly on price. Someone will always undercut your price, but you don't what to work for free or worse.
