can weld cable be used for power to motor leads?
Since it uses different size lugs, so is there a difference in the current capacity? does anyone have any specs on it or know where to find them?
Welding cable is not permitted to be used in power cirucits. The UL listing states that welding cable even with 600 volt insulation is suitable only for use on the secondary side of electric welding equipment. There is a type "W" cable of similar construction that can be used and often dual rated DLO(diesel locomotive cable)/RHW is used. Both of these cables are made up of multiple small strands and require special terminations. In general terminations of the "set-screw" type are not suitable.

Don I know that welding cable is never suppose to be used for power but Have you ever looked at carnivals they have that stuff ran everywhere. And I'm yet to see a AHJ call them on it.
Wayne, sure it is not RHH/RHW superflex with compression lugs on the cable. I do not see a problem with that. I use it all the time in DC applications, and some AC applications where hard bends or vibration is encountered.
