I am wiring a welder and just have a few questions for the install. The welder will be wired 230v.,77 amps at 60% duty cycle.According to 630.11, the conductor size will be 77amps x .78(multiplication factor) and this will give me my conductor rating. For OCP, it can't be more than 200% the primary current(200% x 77).150amp OCP will be the max. Will the breaker serve as the OCP? If so, is the disconnect required to be fused or non-fused?

Re: welder install

is this is a typical buzzbox welder?
look at the nameplate on the welder itself. is should tell you the input current.

Re: welder install

Requirements for a disconnecting means are in 630.13
If not part of the welder, then
a switch or CB rated not less than the overcurrent device.
