Here's the issue...any help would be appreciated.

I have a portable welder that is typically plugged into a ship system rated 440V/3P. The welder needs to go between the ship and a maintenance building. The building has a system voltage of 480Y/277V. The welder plug is a 450V, 4P, 40A pin type (see picture, not 440V).

The welder has autoline, so it can operate at any voltage. My question is, can I use a 450V/3P recepetacle on a 480V/3P system?

Thanks for your help...really stuck on this one.

Auto Line?
what range of voltage can it adjust to?

my first inclination is that No you can't use that 450v recept on the 480v system because it is over the voltage rating. (Not saying it wouldn't work) but maybe a buck transformer may be in order from the building that could step voltage down to the 440 the welder is designed for.
