Hi, My electrician pulled THWN-2 Aluminum wire for a planned 60A service which will be used for a welder and/or EV super charger. I'm having trouble finding a 14-60R that accepts 2 AWG wire so guessing I need to splice a copper 4 AWG and then use that for the outlet? (The wire is about 120' from the panel).

Other question is.. can I use the same line/box for both applications or will I need a seperate one for each?

Last quesiton is.. the wire currently exits the wall inside a plastic box. Will I need something more substantial for the welder outlet (such as a metal j-box, perhaps even with it's own breaker)? This is all in the same "room" (the garage). I'm not sure why I'd want/need a redundant breaker, but I'm not an expert at these levels of power.

Thanx in advance for any advice you can offer

Monte

I am closing this thread in accordance with forum rules. If you are not an electrician, we are not permitted to assist you in performing your own electrical installation or maintenance work.

The reason is that the forum’s owner does not want a person to get an answer to the question they asked, but not get answers to the dozens of other questions they should have asked and were unaware they needed to ask. An engineer is less of a risk in that category, still Mike doesn’t want anyone to get injured by any incidents related to electrical installations.
