Hoping one of you can help me out with this, but im building a steel frame gazebo in my yard, and id like a few outlets on it. Although flush mounting an outdoor box isnt a big deal, when you add an in use cover, it makes it protrude quite a bit. I can cut out the square tube and recess the box, and weld it into the structure, so only the cover protrudes. Would this be code compliant? I believe so but my worry is that a standard single gang steel box is for indoor use, but since its inside 5'x5' steel box tube, its not really "outdoor" anymore. Ill be running liquid tight inside the steel from outlet to outlet, i just want to keep a very clean, low profile instal. Anyone have any ideas?
