There's another well pump thread going that I didn't want to hijack but I thought this might be of interest to some of us who have worked on well trouble calls and have seen how well guys get stuff done.

Who needs a pump house?

Pump starter and pump minder fit in the well casing.

And if your wondering where the pressure tank is, it's burried in the dirt.

Buried pressure tank is not uncommon here, but ones designed for it still have second pipe for pressure switch that runs to above ground next to the top of well casing. They are a pitless adapter and pressure tank all in one unit, don't get too carried away with excavating when you run the line to one of those or you will damage the pressure tank.

I see the problem, those yellow wire nuts are prolly not listed for a wet location. You need to fix that.:D

my AHJ considers the inside of well casing a wet location. Plain wire nuts or Polaris connectors will get me a correction notice. I use gel filled wre nuts or butt connectors with shrink tubing.

That is not a wet location. Not even sure if it's damp and with that type of control there may not even be much water where the pump sits.
No water where the pump sits leaves us with just a minor problem when it comes to wanting water to flow in the piping system.

:happysad: Unless it is in flood zone where does he think water will come from? It is supposed to stay in the riser pipe within the well casing.

It’s one of those cases where you decide to pick your battles. I’m not going to win that one with my AHJ.

However, If I come outside the well and put a junction box in the conduit, my AHJ. (Washington State Labor & Industries, Electrical Inspection Division)will allow me to use wire nuts or Polaris connectors there. If I seal the conduit coming out of the well with duct seal. So that’s what I’ll do with #2 or larger wire.

The pump control box is 3R rated. I’d rather mount it on a post next to the well rather than inside the casing. But that’s just me. Pentair’s Intellidrive and some other vfd’s are also 3R rated and can be installed outside.

I've never used a buried pressure tank. I have used the In-well tank that installs in the drop pipe in the well. Works best with a vfd, since it only has a 1 gallon drawdown. Then I’ll mount the transducer on the pitless adapter.

I agree the control boxes and even drive enclosures are 3R rated. As much as the drive costs, I think I'd rather have it in a non condensing environment though.

how does one connect the pressure transducer if the tank is in the well casing? It needs to connect to the water piping, which on the pitless adapters around these parts that is at least 5 to 6 feet from top opening of the pitless adapter to enusure it is deep enough it don't freeze.
