This may sound like a stupid question. Is it common for the conduit leading from the pool fixture back to the j-box to be filled with water? Is there any type of seal that has to be made inside the wet niche fixture to prevent this from happening? Someone is telling me that an approved potting compound has to be used to prevent this, but I can't find in the code where it says it. I know that the ground termination has to be encapsulated to prevent deterioration but I just thought the pipe filled with water up to the same level as the pool and that was why the box had to be at least 8" above that mark. This application is not a deck j-box but rather one that sits near the pool equipment. Thanks.
