what a difference in prices

I just called my supplier--- $18.60. I would buy that stuff at $12.31 right now.

We are at $19.23 right now. Sometimes you see differences like that because of how different companies adjust their prices. For example our cost is always based on what it cost us to replace it, not nessacarly what we actually paid for it. Up or down.

I thought all electricians were uniform in pricing, since they all interpret the NEC the same way.

I had an insurance job and the agent was crying because he could accurately estimate every trade but the electrical work. He said electricians are all over the board. It worked out fine for me (who wants to work for insurance companies anyway?).
