National Electrical Safety Code

The NESC is much closer to a safety manual, like NFPA 70E, than it is an installation manual like the NEC.

As far as I know, the NESC does not have 'rules' covering the sizing or ratings of equipment such as conductors and protective devices.
In the old days each utility had their own power systems engineering group that create their own standards for equipment ratings, there are no nationally accepted standards.
