Hi, I have been doing some research and came up with several answers and want to ask on here and get everyones imput. I am currently a carded Federal surface and underground electrician through Msha and have been for 6yrs working as certified underground electrician. After being laid off because of the war on coal I went back to my previous employer as a industrial electrician at a OSB mill. Doing everything from conduit work, wire pulling, breakers, lights all the way to plc drive/control instillation and rslogix 5000 programming ect. You name it we do it lol
. Anyways we work 4 on 4 off and I would like to get into doing residential work and maybe start my own business To bring in more income and do my own thing. Do I need to do an apprenticship ? I really prefer not to as I did 2yrs just to get certified and carded and test out for my electrical cards for msha. I dont want to leave my current career either. Are you required to have journeymen cards or do I have to be a master electrician? Is there a way to achieve this without more schooling or an apprenticship. Thank you for any help.
