I saw a panel label that mentions "Branch Breakers".

Click here to see the label.

Has anyone seen a UL definition of branch breaker?

I would have to assume they are talking abuot branch circuits, but I don't see why they would differentiate between branch circuits and feeders. ???

IMO the term "branch breaker" is frequentlly used by panelboard manufacturers just in describing a breaker that is not mounted/wired as a main breaker.

It is easier to say branch than it is to say feeder or branch.

I could not find any specific info at UL for "branch breaker", I find this amuzing :)
Why don't you contact the manufacturer and lets us know what the response is.

Thats a good catch Bob... but we know that you are an "old grizzled electrician" who does not look at labels, so did your helper ask you? :D

We use them in our motor controls panels . UL has what they call UL489, which is for branch circuit protection devices. This can be used for motors, GFI receptacles, resistive heat devices, etc. UL 1077 is for "supplementary protection" such as motor control circuits, lights, computers, etc. Normally "Branch circuit protection" will be prior to the UL1077 device.
