Hello group can any of you brains on here explain in very simple electrician terms what a Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) is? So to the guy running the pipe in the mud has some concept of what this is all about?
Thanks

Basically a battery.

Think of the grid as a huge interconnected set of spinning machines. If electrical consumption is different from the mechanical power going into the generators, then they change speed and the grid frequency changes.

FCR is energy storage dedicated to counteracting grid frequency changes.

(That is my non expect simplified understanding. )
