I am looking at ANSI standard C119.6-2011. The title of the document is "For Electric Connectors—Non-Sealed, Multiport Connector SystemsRated 600 Volts or Lessfor Aluminum and Copper Conductors"

What is meant by "multiport" connector? Would this be any multi-phase connector, or would it be implying connection for entirely seperate circuits on a single connector?

One of these?

Thanks for the reply. Those connectors could very well be used to carry 3 phase power to a single piece of equipment, it does not necessarily imply separate circuits?

A multiport connector can be thought of as a splicing device or splicing terminal device. If it were incorporated into a multipole device it would be described something like a power distribution block.

AKA " Polaris connectors"
Basically just a pre insulated splice block, never used across phases. Each phase requires a block. Multi port just means multiple holes for wire.

Hi....Multi-port connectors consist of multiple coaxial contacts of a same interface integrated into a single connector module. Coaxial contacts are carefully designed to provide low insertion force, blind mating and high reliability. Multiport connnectors enable higher interconnection density and reduce installation time.
