I am looking for the code req. for what is to be provided at a location where there is to be a condenser unit on a commercial rooftop.Specifically related to a service recept. and a luminaire requirement. The roof has three units on it now and none of the above are installed.all units do have service disconnects.

Re: What is required on a rooftop at a commercial bldg.

210.63 requires an outlet within 25' of Heating, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration Equipment.

210.8(B)(2) Requires GFCI protection for this outlet.

I do not know of an NEC requirement for luminaries at this equipment on commercial roof tops.

In the state of MA it is a building or plumbing code to have luminaries at gas fired roof units.

99 NEC 210-63 states that a 125V, 15A or 20A rated receptacle shall be installed on the same level and within 25' of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment(1 and 2 family dwellings exempted). The receptacle shall not be connected to the load side of the equipment disconnect. I don't see a lighting requirement for rooftop location.

Since a rooftop is a wet location, the receptacle is required to have a "weatherproof while in use" cover. 406.8(B)1.
