What is this type of circuit called in the NEC?

Suppose a 14-2 NM cable is run to a 2-gang switch box. A 14-3 cable is run so that the black wire powers one light and the red wire powers a different one beyond the first one. The neutral is common.

It's not a multiwire branch circuit, since that's something totally different. What would such a circuit be called?
 
OK. But do electricians have a special name among themselves for this type of configuration

Not that I know of.
It is just two load circuits run in the same cable as part of a single branch circuit (assuming both wires go back to the same breaker, since otherwise you would have either an MWBC or an illegal circuit.)
