I saw this in regards to ajebox & receptacle. What is this? Is it a ring around the outlet box for a plater wall? Thanks.

Decoded:

4-inch square (aka 1900/189/232 box), 2-Gang (for 2 devices) Plaster Ring (mud ring/tile ring), for 5/8" thick wall (usually drywall).

A 4 in sq. box has no way to adapt switches or receptacles unless you use a surface cover. The plaster ring is made to accommodate devices. In your case it is a 2 gang with 5/8" rise meaning the sheetrock is probably 5/8".
