I have been thinking about buying at least one new tool this year and I have been getting more and more calls about bad underground service conductors.

I?m interested in knowing what Brand / Model most of you use for testing for / finding faults in underground service conductors.

If you find an underground locator less than about 2500 bucks, it'll just frustrate you. Maybe somebody has a hot lead on something cheaper, but I've tried lots of them over the years, and you're already over 2K for anything even remotely decent. I use the Amprobe Hawk mostly lately, and it's decent, but still around 2K.

I think 480sparky just got a new underground locator from his wife for Christmas. Maybe give him a nudge to see what it was and how it's working out.

Tempo 2003. AKA Progressive. It's not something I use every day, but I have used it about 6 times in the past two years. 100% accurate so far. Very accurate. Pinpoint, acutally. When it said 'Dig Here!", I dug there and there it was! Many Rycom cable locators can also do fault locating.

I skipped the mall this time around. Year before last Santa said, "Get off my knee you freak". I need to come to the mall in your town, I guess, to get my wish list in.
