I am just doing some practice calculations and I am curious which type of aluminum conductor you would normally use for a piped in residential service.

I've found that when using 2" PVC for a 200A service I could use table 310.15(B)(6) to use only 2/0 CU. With aluminum I would still have to use 4/0 but I am not sure what type of conductor would normally be used, I need to know that to find out what size pipe I would need.

Just to get a little picky, the type of conductor you are using is aluminum. Your question is about the type of insulation on the conductor.:)
