Taking NYC electricians exam Sunday 1-27-07 came across this question:

what type of section of cable tray would you use that parallel a platform, makes a 90 turn, and continues to parallel the platform?

a. Vertical T
b. Horizontal L
c. Vertical L
d. Horizontal T

Thanks for your help!

If it continues along the platform as well as permitting a 90 degree turn, it would have to be a horizonatal T.

I'm with Don, the question didn't say that the platform changed direction so you must assume that it runs straight. To continue the CT with the platform and 90 in a different direction would require a horizontal T.

I don't think the test writer did a good job constructing the question, as it could be interpreted either way. My guess is that he was looking for Horizontal L for an answer.

I would disagree. The question requires a little imagination but is rather straight forward.

Don's answer is correct. The question is not poorly written, the question is worded to see if we can understand the layout without giving the answer away in the question.
