Hey does anyone know what version of the NEC the national park service is on with projects this year. The park engineer is out and I need to get my bid in.
You have to remember that under 110.14(C), for circuits rated 100A or less, or marked 14-1AWG, conductor termination temperature limitations are to be coordinated for 60?C, unless marked otherwise... and on both ends. The accepted engineering practice for this designer may be to take the default approach. As such, 4AWG circuit conductors would not be oversized. May also be the designer is taking advantage of this 'loophole'.The reason I ask is because the plans don't match the spec's. I was told in the past that is because the feds use a different version of the NEC. Usually several cycles behind the current ones
One of the issues is the conductors are clearly (to me) oversized due to distance or voltage drop. However the ground wire is not at all.
As per 250.122. When does this really get invoked?
Could a 60 a 120/208 circuit/feeder be fed by #4 & #10 ground be considered standard, or is it upsized?
Not enough detail to determine if it is completely compliant. There's no violation based solely on information provided thus far.Thank you.
The interesting thing is that the plans show panel ampacity
22 amps but rate it at 60a and breaker. So is this legitimate? If at a later date they want to load it up to 50 amp at almost 300 feet this would not work IMO.
