Hello;
My question;
What year code book are we responsible to use when a job is bid and filed when one year code book is in effect and the inspections Three or Four years later when a new book is in effect ?
Thank You

I can't speak for your area but, everywhere I have ever worked it is what is in place when the job is permitted.

Welcome to the forum.:)

I agree with Roger, in my area you would use the code book that was in effect when the project was permitted.

It is the same here in Florida. We currently have several permits that were issued back in 2002 or earlier and are not completed yet for one reason or another.

We have had a few occasions were bids were placed and won for a project that ended up being permitted under the next code cycle. Just bad timing on the part of the GC / developer.

For the most part, you can be certain that the permit issuance date will determine the code that will be enforced.

The city in WV, that I work for, the inspection would be under the code that was adopted at the time that the permit was issued. We are currently under the 2005 code. A few weeks ago a project ended which was inspected under the 1999 NEC.

Here it is actually the plancheck submittal date (we do not consider a permit issued until after the plans have been approved).

We too have finished housing tracts after two or even three code cycles have passed.
