What year NEC code change started the requirement for bathroom outlets being on a 20 amp circuit? I am being a little lazy and not using my collection of old NEC books but thought someone would know off the top of their head. I have seen several more recently built homes that appear to have been remodeled but have bathroom on 15 amp circuits.

Thanks for your response.

From what I could find, it appears that the 20A bathroom requirement (210.11) first appeared in the 1999 NEC.

Which means you might find areas of the country where that code was not used until maybe 2004-5 or even later.
I think it did not go into effect in Kalifornia until 2003.

The 20 amp requirement came before the '99 edition. It just looks like it was new in the '99 due to being moved around. Not sure of the first year, though it is in the '96 as 210-52(d).

Interesting. Looking at the 1993 NEC, while 210.52(d) does exist (and is labeled as a new change), it only requires at least one wall receptacle in bathrooms, but does not not mandate that it needs to be a dedicated 20A circuit.
