What is it called when you have a nipple threaded all the same way, so as to retro in a nipple after panels are up?

Also, are these generally on the shelf?

Are you talking about running threads? Where the cut threads just keep going?
They are not a shelf item. Not that I know of anyway.
And they are illegal for some uses.
 
Often running thread is stocked by supply houses. I have bought it in the 3 and 4" conduit sizes. It is only illegal it use at a coupling and is handy for connections between two enclosures that are close to each other.
