Yep...
1975 for bathrooms
1987 for kitchens within 6' of the sink
1996 all kitchen counters, not just those within 6' of the sink

The requirements may have been adopted later in your area.

It`s kind of funny how the NEC goes back and forth in requirements.Take within 6 ft of a sink once gfci required then not,then again required.Also grounded switch yokes,required then not then again required.Someone please make up my mind :D what causes this reoccurance,yes no yes no yes no.............. ;)
