When do you think a residential detached garage would become a commercial garage. This customer does hobby car work, but not as a business. I cant find nothing that would designate this as a commercial garage. Am I right?

How is it zoned? What type of occupancy is on the building permit? Is it served with a feeder from the dwelling? These are among the things in my personal test. I've seen some serious DIY mechanic garages that had as much or more than some commercial garage mechanics have, but it was still a residential detached garage. They were just serious hobbiests. It still gets interesting, regardless of occupancy type, if the homeowner decides to install a pit in that garage.
