When is a rubber mat required?

In taking my master electrical examine there was a question that asked, I'm paraphrasing, "What is the voltage level minimum that requires a rubber mat to be placed at the work area?"

I have looked both in the OSHA and NEC books and can not find the instance where this is covered. Any help on this would be appreciated. I'm looking for both the location of the information and the answer.

Thanks a bunch.

250.174(C), 430.133, 535.20(G) and 640.45 are the only places that the code requries nonconductive mats or matting.

The first two articles you mention both cite the 150 Volt level, the third does not exist, and the fourth relates to using a mat to cover wires along a floor, to avoid a trip hazard. I would have to agree that an exam would be looking for the answer of 150.

Re: When is a rubber mat required?

Just wanted to drop a note to the kind folks that took the time to respond to my question. The question was once again on the exam and this time I got it right with out guessing.

I passed my exam with an 85% and I owe part of my success to you all!

Thanks!

Thanks, I see it now. That one also relates to using a mat to cover wires along a floor, to avoid a trip hazard.
