When is it required to connect pre-action compressors to emergency power (NEC 700)?

I've ssen some cases when they are connected to emergency & normal power. Why the difference?

It is not required. If there is a long outage, the worst that would happen is the supervisory air may slowly leak out over several days and result in a trouble condition for the FACP. If this is either single or double interlock, the valve will not let water past until there is a detection condition.
