When To use chapter nine table 9

I know that typically we use "K" or chapter nine table 8 for voltage drop. I know that in an a.c. circuit you need too be aware of inductive and capacitive reactance. For a.c. circuits when would it be critical to use chapter nine table 9 instead of chapter nine table 8. Because just about every voltage drop question that I see in study guides always use's table 8.

The differences between AC impedance from Table 9 and DC resistance on Table 8 really don't change until you get above 1/0 AWG. So below that using Table 8 for AC circuits will work out just fine.
