Hey guys working on that old church Ive posted about came across some fascinating old stuff. The connectors and coupling are an old crimp style. Today while pulling in some mc cable we actually found the tool that appears to have been used to crimp this old stuff. It has two dies on it that when pinched together would appear to crimp this connector. I cant remember the name of the tool starts with a b How far do you guys think this could date back? Have any of you guys ever used this type of tool?

Indentured type couplings and connectors..

You found the Indenture tool..Not that old..

Re: when was the last time it was used

What exactly were they crimping? Conductors? EMT? Do you mean a Buchanan crimper typically used for splicing EGC's?

Re: when was the last time it was used

It was used for EMT installations..(simular to the set-screw coupling, but without the screw)

You crimped the couplings and connectors. It made two indentured "bite marks" in the fitting.

yes,I have used it..

Re: when was the last time it was used

I have a set 1/2"-1 1/4"
Use it on old installations to re-crimp the couplings and connectors that are loose.

I think that the name is "bregal" or something like that. I used some in the early 70's. I don't really like the type of connection that they make, but it does make for a much better looking exposed EMT installation. They are still available from Hubbell and maybe others.

yeah I think the brugal name is correct. It is definitely sawzall time with that stuff. The other thing Ive ran across I think is old bx cable. That stuff sure is hard to cut compared to mc cable. I am definitely learning a new respect for the oldtimers who had to deal with this stuff every day.
