When You Can't Drill Building Steel to Install Ground Lug

If you want to bond to building steel but the specs tell you not to drill into the beams what are the options besides exothermic welding?

There are alternatives such as Burndy's HYGROUND compression connectors and mechanical clamp type connectors

You don't have to land directly on a beam, a roof joist that's welded to the beam can work.

I've used a beam clamp with a lug if the location was up high enough nobody would mess with it.

And to expand on that a little, there are one time kits you can buy if you don't have the whole set up.

You could also remove a nut and put a lug or your own piece of metal that you could drill under it.
