I'm installing the power for a new grow operation and I can't find the equipment I need for the service.

It starts with the title item, a 1200A 480Y/277V 3-Phase, 4-Wire, NEMA 3R MDP. In the MDP will be 4 400A breakers that will feed out to 4 separate greenhouses that are 24' wide and 132' long. Each greengouse will have a 400A 480Y/277V 3-Phase, 4-Wire, MLO panel, a 25KVA transformer, and a 225A 240/120V single-phase panel.

The 400A 480Y/277V 3-Phase, 4-Wire, MLO panel will be used for the 30 1000W, 277V HPS and MH light fixtures, two 480V 5-ton A/C units, and four hanging electric heaters that also run on 480 volts.

The 25KVA transformer is for the feed to the 225A 240/120V single-phase panel off the 400A 480Y/277V 3-Phase, 4-Wire, MLO panel.

The 225A 240/120V single-phase panel will be used for all the 120V loads e.g. receptacles, circulation fans, dehumidifiers, non-grow lighting, etc. Also fed off that panel will be some 240V loads including; exhaust fans, and larger dehumidifiers, and some of the 480V equipment if we get a good deal on something but it doesn't run on 480V.

That's basically it, but I'm having a hard time finding a used or refurbished weatherproof 1200A MDP and four 400A breakers. The owner will not buy new! And it's up to me to find this equipment used. HELP!

Does anybody know someone that could act like a switch-gear broker and find the necessary equipment to get this job going?

Your sizing seems off. 400A for 30 lights and AC? Maybe I am misunderstanding the setup. I have done a 300A feeder for 103 lights and 40 ton AC, 75x50 room.

Anyway, just buy new, this stuff isn't as expensive as you think. A 1200A MLO panelboard is only like $1600 with 400A frame breakers probably around $750 each.

You might find that a motor control center could be cheaper. Just buy an off the shelf type 1 MCC and install it in a type 3R enclosure.

I can make you a UL 508 a listed panel with four hundred three phase breakers in it. Can put it in any enclosure you want. Another possibly less expensive option.

Used outdoor gear is hard to find because generally, it gets torn out when the enclosure rots, so even if the used gear people buy it, they do so just for the breakers and scrap the rusted boxes.

I have bought 200-400 amp frame I-line breakers used on occasion and don't have a problem with that, but yeah a 3R panelboard/cabinet.... No thanks. Remember that $1600 or whatever is freight allowed. Enjoy the freight bill for that used unit...

Possibly worth building a doghouse as the main electrical room and putting N1 gear in it.

But I also agree with others, it may not cost as much as you think if you purchase all the gear needed on one order from one manufacturer, including the sub panels, any motor controls, disconnects, even transformers. You may get all that stuff on one order for as little as 20-30% what you would pay if you bought just a few items at a time on separate sales tickets.
