I hope this works, Today I was finishing some work at an old Laundry Matt.
I had to hook up 2 automatic doors. So I put my audiable hot checker on and looked in the panels for the breaker to cut power, that was already there. Long story short, I ended up turning off every breaker on the inside and the out side. The ckt never went dead, There was only one closet that I could not get access to. So I figured there must be a panel in there. I was wrong. Check these photos out. lol

That's not the problem, where is the clearence front of it?

The panel can be sideways, the row of upside down breakers is a violation.

Also there is another panel laying on it's back between the machines. (At least thats what it looks like to me)

The 2nd picture is pretty common for laundry mats.
Yes, it is. I don't remember seeing one without the panel like that in the 'islands.'

It certainly goes along with my "use a sub-panel" philosophy.

But it goes along with my "110.26 is a heck of a good code section" philosophy.

Both those panels IMO have 110.26 issues. I can't even imagine the amount of dust bunnys that are in that panel on it's back.

You'd be suprised about how few, if they keep the covers in place. The panel cover is about 1" below the plumbing cover, so little dust gets in them.

Now, if you want to discuss rust . . .
