Here's one place to perhaps narrow down what you're looking for...

...and I remind you the above site is only one in perhaps several to many selling kits, so shop around.

However, I don't believe you need to go to the degree of purchasing a LOTO kit to work on your parents house. Your local electrical supply house probably has individual pieces of what you'll need. And you don't need a specialized lock, so you can probably purchase your locks cheaper elsewhere.

A well-supplied LOTO set is good to have, ma & pa's house notwithstanding.

I built my kit piece by piece because I never found a set that had all the parts I needed.

I did the same. Duct tape and a sharpie marker just didn't cut it anymore.

Even the 'electrician' kits are so basic, about all I could lock out were 1" breakers.

By the time I found a kit with all the parts I wanted, it was designed for use in facilities, so it came with a bunch of stuff I didn't need. I don't need to lock out valves or plumbing shut-offs, so why pay for them?

I went through several catalogs, made note of the numbers of the parts I wanted, then started searching ebay. I ended up with a kit 3 times the size of the "ultimate" kits the supply houses sell at half the cost, and I don't have a bunch of stuff I don't need.

Just for S&Gs, I gathered up all (OK, not all, but 99% of it) my LOTO stuff.

Everything on the left of the blue line fits into the yellow tool box, and that's what is carried on the van. Everything to the right, including 12 cord lockouts, stays at home.
If there's anything that I use from the toolbox on a job, I replace from the 'stock' at home until I get it back.

I'm still short some pieces I'm still hunting for, but to date this set has yet to fail me.

I'm having to manufacture my own for manufactured panel assemblys, they have two doors which breakers can be acessed from either door. Saves from having to carry and install multiple locks when locking out parking lot lighting and such.

No, I bought one of those to try on our new construction sites, works well if you need only one lock on it, but the holes are too small for a multiple lock adapter. I'm also working on a better design too, as those will not work on panels that have concealed cover screws. Of those that are familar with Power Box and WA Brown gear know what type of door assemblies they use.

hey 480sparky, if you could at some point (when you can), can you pm me a list of items i should have at least to start with, so i have a place to get started. I dont know half of the components from your kit and would like to have a starting place.
