Previous thread was about 225.10 NEC 2014 however this one about which one applies.

What I have is UF cable outside and installers are saying quoted one of the wiring methods of NEC 2014 225.10 but even with that UF cable is subject to physical damage. NEC 2014 section 225.10 has shall be permitted wording. However, NEC 2014 section 340.12(10) prohibits it from using UF cable due to physical damage but 225.10 says cannot prohibit it shall be permitted. Installers are saying 225.10 cannot be rejected. Not sure which would apply 340.12(10) or 225.10?

I already told you that the rules in the article that cover the wiring method being used apply.
The real issue is that the term "physical damage" is a VERY subjective term and has no definition. The only one who knows what the definition of that term is as it applies to your installation is the local AHJ.

The fact that UF is installed in a place that is subject to physical damage means it cannot be used in that application unless you protect the cable. Usually if the area is subject to damage then UF is not used. Most of the time UF is used underground but can be install in any area nm is allowed plus it can also be installed in a wet location unless it is subject to damage.
