Dear All,

I'm helping our purchasing department to specify some custom line voltage pigtails. In order for our prospective vendors to provide accurate quotations, I need to fully specify everything, including the applicable NEC articles.

Question: Which NEC article(s), if any, specify the definition and requirements for wet-location plugs and cord-switches? Must these be molded (not attached) to the cord?

Thank you,

David

The NEC does not specify the design requirements for that type of equipment. The NEC says to use devices suitable for use in wet locations. You would look to the product listings for a suitable product.

Try contacting a rep for Leviton or Hubble, they can point you in the correct direction. Catalogs may give you the appropriate UL standard.
