Which ones seem to better, the Mike Holt tabs or the Construction Book Express tabs?

I read the reviews of the Construction Book Express tabs, HERE, but don't know if the Mike Holt tabs are any better.

I normally only buy the NEC Handbooks. Since I thought I was moving to Idaho, I registered for my ID Journeyman license. ID allows the Handbook for the test, so that's what I bought (California is only on 2002). I took and passed the test today, and I didn't have any tabs on the Handbook. I didn't use any of the extra Handbook info for the test, but I do look through it in the field when I'm looking for extra explanation on an unfamiliar subject. Unfortunately, I am not moving to Idaho, I am moving to Utah. Utah only allows the test to be taken with the NEC, so now I have to order a 2005 NEC.

Depending on which tabs seem to be better, I'll either order from Amazon (cheaper NEC but more expensive tabs) or from Mike Holt (more expensive NEC but cheaper tabs).

Hopefully a few of you have run into both versions. Thanks for the advice.

Personally, I don't like tabs.

Yeah, I was thinking I might not even like them. Like I said, I didn't have them when I took the Idaho Journeyman exam, so why would I need them for a Utah exam? It isn't any harder to find the section you're after in the NEC then it is in the NEC Handbook, is it?

They also fall off after a year or so. I wouldn't bother. I do paper clip areas I look at frequently.

My 2002 still has them on, I like the tabs, for me I can look up or at least get to a section alot faster than skimming...

I always buy the loose leaf version. Its tabs are separate sheets made with hard stock, and generally outlast the pages of text. But then, I only use the book in an office environment, so the extra size and weight are not a burden to me.

Be careful with tabs dude. Before I went to take my test, the guys that i spoke to that took theirs all had tabs in their books and up until now they were allowed to use them at test day. (I speaking for NJ state exam). But when I went to take my test they didn't allow anyone to use their own books we all got brand spanking new ones and let me tell you there were a lot of pissed off people. I personally never put tabs in book so it really didn't affect me at all but for the people that got accustomed to them they really had a problem with it and im sure if they didn't pass they are using that as the reason. I passed my test First shot. If you study well in advance 3-4 months you really should not have a problem. Good luck
OOPS I didnt read all of you post i just saw tabs and test. (like Guilda Radner used to say on SNL Never Mind)

With the change in the '05 NEC, the top right hand side of the page now has section numbers printed on the page. This is like the dictionaries we use (well some of us  ).
With this change, I now teach my guys not to install the tabs and to start using the table of contents instead of the index to help locate the info that they are seeking, whether for tests or real life. It is a much faster method for locating the info they need to find.
And as we see in NJ, where the state provides a clean book, it is still a fantastic method to use.
