Who has a website, and has seen it work for them? I am a one man band, and just getting some info on them to see if it will be right for me. Let me know what content has worked for you, and what hasn't. Post a link if you'd like, I promise not to plagerize (sp?). If you don't want it to be public, PM me if you want.

Thanks,
Brendon

It's "plagiarize."

Let me ask everyone not to post links to your own web sites. That would violate the forum rule against advertising. Feel free to send a PM with a link to your web site, and feel free to discuss how having (or not having) a web site has affected your business.

I can't speak for everyone but a friend of mine had one. It was something really basic that had his contact info, what he does and license number. He also added a short section on his experiance in the trade. Hope this helps!

Edit to add: he took it down when prices for web hosting went up and hasn't put it back up. I don't know if he has any plans to put it back up.

So company logo avatars are okay?

Web Page

Web Page

I have had a web page for two years...a lot of my customers like it, but not many of them were drawn to my business because of it. Prices in my area vary; I had mine done for $600 and pay an annual fee of $20 to keep the web site. A business friend of mine, that is in one of the business groups I belong to, charges $1500 per year with a $5,000 initial set up fee. He guarantees that he will have your web page listed in the top search engines for your area.
My page is good enough for me, but it is probably elementary compared with the ones my friend does.

We just got a site up and running I wired a computer store and he built the site.Almost everyone surfs the web and having a site is just a tool that I can use to project a professional image after speaking on the phone I can direct then to the site.

IMO, i'm going to check the yellow pages before I try surfing the net for an electrician...
We are a resort area these are vacation homes and most homeowners are from various parts of the country so seeking an electrician on the web is more commonplace.

I use to think that too but I'm older now 40 and realize the younger generation uses the net first. Even I do sometimes. I know you can get a link to your site on the Yellow Pages site.

FWIW the biggest waste of advertising money for me was the Yellow Pages.

I thought Missouri only had Lake of the Ozarks? Saw that on HDNet!

I have one, and use it more for existing customers than I do for advertising for new ones. Had it for about 16 months now.
