Whole House Surge Protector

Would like to market whole house surge protectors to my high end resi clients who have 1000s of dollars of electronics in their homes. I know that Leviton has one, but its not rated as a lightning arrestor. Is there a main panel surge protector/lightning arrestor combo?

Look at Square D SDSA 1175 Type 1 Surge Protective Device (SPD)

The literature says it is rated for protecting against lightning.

You want one that is listed as a UL 1449 Third Edition - Surge Protective Device.

Why? Are you saying the warranty covers the manufacturer more than it protects the connected equipment?

Yes. The fine print I read usually specifies that, among other things, the surge device itself must sustain damage from the surge.

I'm just saying read it.

we use products from advanced protection technologies.

they'll do a conference call with your techs and explain the various types of protection and selling features.


btw, i've sold more surge protection to everyday customers than i have those with million dollar homes. we mostly use the TE/1C40 type 2SPD, which is UL 1449 3rd ed, along with with SATH2 phone line surge protector and SAVFFF coax surge protector.
