Why can't I see threads I start on MH until someone responds?

You might set your browser to always check for page updates instead of the IE default of hardly ever checking.
It has to be something about your browser.
If you can access the Forum via HTTPS, the browser is more likely not to cache the content pages.

It depends on how you access the forum. I had the same problem until some good people on here pointed me in the right direction.

If you look at the top left of the page we're on right now, you'll see Mike Holt's Forum and under that you'll see "Forum" and "What's New?".

If you click Forum you get categories. You can click on each category to see what's going on in those categories. Scroll through there and you should find your post sorted by date & time of last post to that thread.

If you click on What's New? it's not sorted by category and it's all posts to all threads again sorted by date & time of last post to that thread.

Alternatively, you can visit your profile to see your activity, just as you can click any other user's profile to see their recent activity.

And one more option is "Subscriptions" where you can subscribe to a thread (look near top right for that option when you have a thread open) and then access these subscribed threads through your profile.

So for you to ask "Why can't I see ... until someone responds" is not really a valid question. It's there - you just have to know how to find it. You can see it if you look in the right place.

Have fun

To the OP, do you do a new search after posting?

For example, today when I got on the forum, I used "Today's Post" search request as the link to begin. You ask the forum for today's posts, and it generates a search based on that request, and it is assigned a number. This morning's result for me was "Search #2445770". If I start a new thread and then hit my back button to view "Search 2445770" and look for my thread, it will not be there (even if I hit refresh on my browser) because my new thread didn't exist when the search result was created.

Just click your username at the top right of the screen. It displays a list view of your threads you were last on. Mine shows that I replied to a thread about Asian Massage. Well it is Saturday, and there isn't anything besides yardwork to do .......... :p

Check your subscribed threads - and settings for subscriptions if you are not seeing what you want in subscribed threads.

I think by default you are subscribed to anything you have posts in but can change subscription settings.

If you go to "quick links" near the top of most pages (sometimes it is not there) you can then select "subscribed threads". It will display your subscribed threads whether there are new posts in them or not, starting with newest.

If you make a favorite on your broser favorite bar use this link forums.mikeholt.com/search.php?do=getdaily This will create a one click setup for today's posts.
