Re: Why the name change?

The name was changed to protect the innocent :D

p.s. I wondered how long it would take for anyone to notice. Well done Scott. You get two Brownie Points.

Re: Why the name change?

I noticed it, but was too dumbfounded to say anything.

"Grounding vs. bonding" is far more controversial. :D

Re: Why the name change?

You know, I have to say that "Grounding versus Bonding" really doesn't make any sense and if things keep going this direction I think at some point the only way to be legally safe will be to mumble or scribble or use whatever other means to be vague and not actually convey an idea. :(

Re: Why the name change?

Why not, it's worked for CMP 5 for years! Badum-ching! Ay-o!

A glimse of things to come...

Re: Why the name change?

CMP 5 has Article 250. I'd venture to say that 250's more cryptic than 210.

Edit: Not even a snicker? :)

I once coined a phrase to describe this very concept. I call it, ?Precision Ambiguity.? :D :D

Re: Why the name change?

I don't understand either the need for the forum name change, or most of the resulting discussion in this thread.

Earth grounding of systems, and the bonding of equipment and conductor enclosures, are two distinctly different procedures in principle, and both are required.

What I don't understand is why are they being referred to as an either/or situation?

The problem is that the word grounding is used in the NEC for both bonding and grounding creating much confusion in the field.

Re: Why the name change?

It's just to remind us that we need to be properly bonded so we don't get grounded.
