Not from your state, but in N.Y. it is the code book, motor control, transformer hook up, math.
Know how to look up things in the code book fast; 200, 300, 400, spec.; go through answer all questions you are sure you know, then answer questions that fall in the same code section, from the section you know best to the lesser known sections. If your test has parts that count higher than others work on them, ie. miss one cost 20 pts. you better get that one right. Here all questions count so last resort guess.

Good Luck!!

I'm starting to prepare for the Wisconsin Master's Test. Outside of things that residential work covers, what is most important to study? Motor calcs? Transformers? Any advice?

I passed it the second time i took it a year ago this past June, Being able to find articles fast and not wasteing time thumbing through the code book was key, I ran out of time my first try. There was a little bit of everything on it and the test was different each time. I had load calcs for a residence and then a multifamly residence, The load for the garage in the multifamily threw me and I have yet to go look to see what it actually is, there were range calcs, conduit fill, if I think of more I will let you know.
My Local WITC office had a class tought by a JIM D. which was very good. He was at a different location and we watched it on TV and were able to ask questions. There was allot of homework, stuff from Mike Holts course and Tom Henrys stuff. Just using the code book over and over and over really helped you learn to look things up. Mike Holts web site has free tests you can take that were like the home work.
Good Luck,

I've taken the WI master's test twice. Passed it the second time... P.M. me and I can tell you in more detail about what to expect. I also learned there is a certain strategy to taking these tests to ensure you don't run out of time.
