Will a "wiggy" tell you where the high leg is?

Would it give you some indication? Thank you.

Most 'Wiggys' have some sort of voltage indication.

I was wondering because it just says on it 120,240,277,480v So since the high leg is between 120-240v. could you tell that your on the high leg.

the wiggy is more or less analog - it will tell you (unless they are making them different these days ? )

IMO you would need to be pretty intamte with your solenoid tester to be able to tell the difference between 208, and 240. For that matter if you got 180 one day or 250 the next...

The operation of this is an electromagnet against a spring.... If the spring gets pushed so far - 'it's about that voltage'... It's not a measuring device in the least.... Unless you count a spring loaded fish scale as accurate. (About the same design...)

Although I can't say I've ever tried it, I think it should show a higher reading on the high leg than the others.

The high leg voltage would be about 50% higher than the others.

Seems like if you're really interested in knowing how much, as well as if it's hot or not, you oughta be able to tell.
