They will steal anything. There was someone stealing catalytic convertors off people's cars while they were working inside a mall not long ago. The mall workers were required to park in a certain area so the thieves knew the cars would sit there for a while. No one reported anything unusual.

Yeah, nothing unusual except for that rattling noise coming from a sawzall.

:D

The copper crooks are becoming more violent as the unemployment rolls grow and the holidays are here, after they run out of buildings to loot will they move to trade vans?http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/12/copper_thieves_target_churches.html

Darn shame. When I lived in NJ I worked for a EC back in the 80's that had to replace 100 feet or so of 400 amp feeder runs in the Jersey City hospital basement after the hoodlums sneaked in and started sawsalling live! There was a subsequent fire resulting that spread so bad that the files caught and actually melted off the cast couplings. Why cast was used is beyond me.

A real nice neighborhood back then. Not. Has it gotten better? I guess that is why we have the insurance and have to charge the big bucks in the cities.

It was in a section of the mall parking lot that was designated for employee parking. Retail stores almost always require their employees to park in a more distant area so the more desirable parking spots are available for paying customers.

It's just a fact of life. All you can do is the best you can do. Make sure it's locked, alarm system and damn good insurance. It still makes you mad, it screws up your day and cost you money. It cost us all in the large scheme of things. But ultimately it is the thief that will pay the price in the end.
