IMO best to sell the wind system and put the money into solar. Thats what I did.

The OP appears to be in southern Michigan. One of the few justifications for keeping small wind in an off grid system is a northern latitude with heavy snow, as a winter 24x7 supplement to PV. It does require unusually steady and high wind speeds and a suitable tower.

Indeed. I lived off grid with a wind turbine for several years and it was great in the winter. When I went on grid, I didnt bother grid tying it and instead went for the longevity and low maintenance of PV.
